About Minerva Project
Advancing Educational Reform for the Benefit of Humankind
The world needs more principled, purpose-driven leaders and innovators. Minerva is building a global network of forward-looking universities to equip individuals with the cognitive skills needed to make decisions of consequence, formulate effective solutions, and manage rapid change.
Minerva Project is the educational reformer founded by Ben Nelson in 2011. Its mission is to nurture critical wisdom for the sake of the world, beginning with the creation of its original prototype, Minerva University. Today, Minerva partners with higher education leaders to help create new, transformative programs or launch entirely new universities, by integrating educational science with advanced technology. Its collaborations with over 30 higher education institutions across 12 countries have reached more than 50,000 learners, trained over 1,000 faculty, and established programs on five continents.
The Minerva University System, announced by Minerva Project in 2026, is an expansion of this global reform movement, which enables the rapid establishment of new institutions that deliver exceptional programming at the highest fidelity. The Minerva Baccalaureate also extends access to fully active, skill-focused learning for middle and secondary school students.
Minerva's educational model is a cohesive, interdisciplinary approach to impart durable human competencies: skills that help ensure success in future studies, the workforce, and society at large. These measurable competencies provide the conceptual and practical foundations for learning across disciplines and over lifetimes.
